Russian Novelis : Leo Tolstoy

Leo Tolstoy, or Count Lyev Nikolayevich Tolstoy (Russian: Лев Никола́евич Толсто́й) (September 9, 1828 – November 20, 1910), was a Russian writer of realist fiction and philosophical essays. His works War and Peace and Anna Karenina represent, in their scope, breadth and vivid depiction of 19th-century Russian life and attitudes, a peak of realist fiction. Tolstoy was born in Yasnaya Polyana, the family estate in the Tula region of Russia. The Tolstoys were a well-known family of old Russian nobility. He was the fourth of five children of Count Nikolai Ilyich Tolstoy, a veteran of the 1812 French invasion of Russia, and Countess Mariya Tolstaya (Volkonskaya). Tolstoy's parents died when he was young, so he and his siblings were brought up by relatives. In 1844, he began studying law and oriental languages at Kazan University. His teachers described him as "both unable and unwilling to learn."^[8]Tolstoy left university in the middle of his studies, returned to Yasnaya Polyana and then spent much of his time in Moscow and Saint Petersburg. In 1851, after running up heavy gambling debts, he went with his older brother to the Caucasus and joined the army. It was about this time that he started writing.His conversion from a dissolute and privileged society author to the non-violent and spiritual anarchist of his latter days was brought about by his experience in the army as well as two trips around Europe in 1857 and 1860–61. Others who followed the same path were Alexander Herzen, Mikhail Bakunin, and Peter Kropotkin. During his 1857 visit, Tolstoy witnessed a public execution in Paris, a traumatic experience that would mark the rest of his life. Writing in a letter to his friend V. P. Botkin: "The truth is that the State is a conspiracy designed not only to exploit, but above all to corrupt its citizens ... Henceforth, I shall never serve any government anywhere."

Biology for Kid


Is not too late sharing  our idea about how we support our kid with useful knowledge like Biology science.  Kids known as young generation that have great curiosity about their self, environment, animals, and everything about lifes. 
The biology as a basic science provide such information about plants, animals, environment, and lifes. The biology curriculum normaly provide in elementary school. But it was not wrong if we preparing them earlier for catch anything about plants, animals, environment, and lifes in specific term that suitable with their mind. 


1. What kind the learning model should giving for them
    The learning model absolutely different whit normal education. It should be like game, play with fun,    drawing, watch the movie, stories about biology and everything about life science but in Kid sense. The learning activities not only happen in class or in school, but parents also play the main role for their kids knowledge. The house should be a perfect place for kid learn, and become a  firts school for them before the day begin.


2. What the materi content
    The materi content suggest not very difficult to absorb by the kid. For example we can introduce them about animal   family, animal infant, fruits, with colorful picture or animation. Surely they could learn more fast if we provide the material   in colorful, funny, and simple.


3. What the benefit for them
    The benefit absolutely not in recent time, but it would appear in their manner, habit, in which they growing with affection     and concious to care and conserve the environment. As young generation they would very careful and wise to manage the   environment and natural resource in our world yesterday

Oil Palm Fruit

This picture was taken when I join with my student go on visit in Oil Palm Plantation in North Luwu Regency in South Sulawesi Province. That was palm oil fruit in 4-5 fraction (Oil Palm Fruit maturity Scales). Palm oil (Elaeiss guineensis) was belong to Palmaceae, product abundant oil from the small fruit called kernel, the kernel produce CPO (crude palm oil) and so on processed become oil as soap, margarine, cooking oil, and cosmetic through factory processing.

Soil profile: Ultisols from Wajo

Here is the Ultisols profile taken from Wajo (south Sulawesi). Actually that was a natural soil profile, but its showed complete A, B, C horizon of soil.
If the soil is dug up to a certain depth, from vertical cross-section can be seen that the color gradation forming layers (horizons) or so-called soil profile. In the forest land that has been cooked there three important horizon of horizons A, B and C Horizon A or Top Soil is the uppermost layer of soil The most frequent and most easily influenced by climatic factors and biological factors. In this layer most of the organic materials collected and experience decay. B horizon is also called the accumulation zone (illuvation zone). This horizon has a more organic matter a little but more an element of soil leaching than horizon A. Horizon C is a zone of  weathered rock which is part of the parent rock. Agricultural activities are generally located on the horizon A and B.
